Those companies that make "No Grain" claims must use some form of carbohydrates if they are making a cooked or extruded food. First of all "rendering" means the separation of fat from the solid material by means of cooking. The quality has more to do with the supplier or the source of the chicken than the definition. OP buys from human chicken processors. All the chicken starts out this way. Chicken is made up of chicken parts less the internal organs, feathers, blood, heads and feet. If it is not cooked at this point and is added to the formula it is called "chicken", per AAFCO definition. If it is chicken meal, it is cooked or rendered to separate the fat from the protein and minerals.

EU is simply a series of inspections and procedures that a plant must pass and use in order to sell products in the EU nations. They are performed by the USDA and APHIS for the EU. As for its use in the US, telling someone that OPF is EU certified is only stating that we pass an additional set of heightened inspections that helps to ensure that they are buying a quality product made with quality ingredients. our vendors must also be certified, so it is a very complex and thorough process that is both ingredients and manufacturing. OPF sells products that are shipped to more than 23 countries around the world, not just the EU.
